Recovery is personal. This policy explains what Tandem handles, why it is needed, and the choices you have.
Information Tandem handles
When you create an account, Tandem handles your email, display name, pronouns, and sign-in information. If you use recovery features, Tandem also stores details you choose to provide, such as sobriety dates, substances, journal entries, activity, points, stickers, Sage customization, conversations, and feedback reactions.
How your information is used
Your information is used to provide your account, calculate sobriety progress, save your journal and rewards, personalize Sage responses, maintain safety, and operate and improve Tandem. Tandem does not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Sage and sensitive information
Messages and journal entries shared with Sage are processed to create responses and may use relevant past entries or conversations to make support more personal. Avoid sharing information you do not want stored. Sage is supportive technology, not a doctor, therapist, emergency service, or substitute for professional care.
Cookies and device storage
Tandem uses essential browser storage and similar technology for sign-in, security, saved preferences, and your cookie choice. Declining optional cookies does not disable storage required for the service to work. Tandem does not currently use advertising cookies. If optional tracking is introduced later, this notice will be updated before it is enabled for you.
When information is shared
Information may be processed by service providers that host Tandem, authenticate accounts, store data, or generate Sage responses. Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect users, or to address fraud, abuse, or security threats. Tandem does not share journal or recovery information with advertisers.
Security and retention
Tandem uses access controls and reasonable technical safeguards designed to protect your information. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Information is kept while your account is active and as reasonably needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service.
Your choices
You can update your name and pronouns in account settings, choose what to share with Sage, decline optional cookies, and sign out at any time. You may also clear site data through your browser. Clearing it may sign you out and reset preferences. Requests concerning access, correction, or deletion should identify the Tandem account involved.
Young people
Tandem is designed to support teenagers and adults, but it is not directed to children under 13. If local law requires parental or guardian consent for a young person to use an online service, that consent should be obtained before creating an account.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as Tandem changes. Material updates will be reflected here with a new effective date. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies.
